I thought that making a post about what I am going to try to do in the future would be interesting and if you guys want to try to do what I am doing as well, that would be so cool.

The first thing that I have talked with many people about and what I have researched about for a while is the theory of extremely fast morse code transmissions with computers. The benefit of these types of things it that you could send messages to each other directly by light or sound and you wouldn't have to even know morse code to do it. The first way that this could be done would be with the mosquito noise, but at a kilohertz so high that no one could hear it. The only doubts I have about this concept is if the computers have a limit at what sounds they can hear and if you would be able to choose a channel of a certain hertz so that other people couldn't hear what you were saying.

The other way that this could be done would be with lasers or another direct light source that computers could tranmit messages with. For example, I'm sure that many of you were curious as a two or three year old and wondered what was happening when the light on the garage door went off when you moved in between the beams that stops it from closing on you. My idea works on the same principle, that the sender of the message could turn the light on and off in a morse code or other coded pattern that the other computer would understand and then translate back into words for the reciever of the message.

So thats kind of just the main principle of the idea, but the excecution might be a bit more complicated. On the bright side, its a lot less complicated than a few of my other ideas. In my next post, you'll see what I mean by a lot more complicated when I write about making a HERF gun. The concept is somewhat dangerous, but still very cool.

Mojo Free Music Sharing

I can't wait to tell you all about this! In this post, I'm going to address the common topic of music sharing with other people. By law, you are not allowed to copy and sell music to other people without the copyright privileges of the owner of the music. Sharing music has become one of the big industries today because of companies like LimeWire and programs like Ares and Aquisiton.

But in this post, I'm not going to write about any of those applications that you have probably already heard about; I am going to be writing about Mojo, a new music-sharing program for Mac that allows you to listen and download music from other people's iTunes libraries.

While I just said that I was going to be writing about it, I really am not going to be writing about it very much. All I have to say is that its a new program that you can get as a free trial download, but it really isn't limited too much as a free trial because all of the main music sharing functions are still there. Once you open it, you just have to do a quick little registering thing and then you are good to go. You can add you friends by the username that they specify once they register for the program. Then you're good to go and share music with your friends!

You can download the program here

Once you have downloaded it and dropped it onto your desktop, feel free to add me - desertcamel93 and we can share music!

Thanks for reading as always guys and in my next post, I'm going to be talking about the many more games that I found out that you could play on terminal and how you can access them! I'll post that one some time in the next two days.

World's Largest Server Farm

Mumbai, India (AP) - A massive “googlebyte” server farm is being built in a remote corner of India, according to sources familiar with the project. The project is being financed by Silicon Valley giant Google, Inc. If completed on schedule in 2010, “[the server farm] will increase the total amount of installed computer storage capacity in the world by several orders of magnitude,” according to industry analyst Mark Larfey of BuildingStorage.com.

A googlebyte is the largest possible measurement of storage capacity. It is based on the number googol, which is a 10 followed by one hundred zeros. It represents several quintillion times the capacity of the largest current installations of around one petabyte (or one billion megabytes).

“To put this in perspective,” Larfey says, “if each byte of data stored in a googlebyte were the size of a grain of sand, then this server farm would be a thousand times the size of the Sahara Desert. If those grains of sand were laid end to end, they would stretch from the earth to the center of the Milky Way galaxy.”

A senior engineer familiar with the project says the googlebyte farm is being built near the small village Lirpagar, in southern India’s Sloofayad region, an area that has to date not benefited from recent growth in the Indian IT sector. The server farm is so massive, it will require the construction of three separate nuclear power plants in southern India to provide electricity to power and cool it, sources say.

Google management could not be reached for comment about the project or its anticipated cost. But sources say the estimated cost are in the $1.8 trillion range, equal to more than twice the entire current GDP of India.

Google has developed other server farms in various locations, “but nothing even close to this scale,” Larfey said. Construction of the googlebyte farm is slated to begin the first of April.

------

How cool is that? It turns out that the airliner took off into a flock of geese and a few of them were sucked into the jet engines. According to one of the passengers, "there was a loud boom and then the airplane dropped about 100 feet."

Although the engines had shut down, the pilots still had control of the plane. Because they no longer had power and not much altitude to begin with, they needed to do something fast to get the airplane on the ground safely. Fortunately, the pilots were able to land the airliner in the Hudson river at about 56th street. Immediately, ferry boats from both the New York side and the New Jersey side of the river rushed over to the crash site to get all of the passengers to saftey.

At five o'clock tonight, all of the passengers, flight attendents, and pilots have been safely removed from the airplane. Although all of the people were removed from the airplane, the problem of how the airplane is going to get out of the hudson river still is yet to be solved and as you are reading this tonight, it continues to float downstream.

by Andrew Camel
--CamelMac.blogspot.com--

Fake Virus by Request

By request from many of my friends and readers, I have made another fake virus, but this time, it does the classic apple A apple O prank for you after giving a short little message! This high-pitched ringing sound can only be heard by people under about 30 years of age so it is now used for ringtones, and any notifications that you want to have on any electronic device that you own. If you haven't figured it out yet, you can hear it and your parents or teachers can't.

Try it out here.

For extended annoyances, try my version that is one minute long! Download it here

The History

The commonly called "mosquito" noise was originally designed by the Swedish government to keep people like teenagers away from public venues like supermarkets and other stores. The theory was that the majority of shoppers would not be able to hear it, but all of the younger people could, so they would be repelled from the stores. It actually works on surprisingly closely related technology to those things that make high pitched noises to stop dogs from barking. We kids don't like to be treated like dogs, right? So we rebel!

Some students of a high school nearby a store that started to use this technology had the idea to record it and make it into a ringtone and in effect, use the old people's weapon against them. This ringtone of course spread like some terribly contagious disease and traveled all over the world and that is why I am writing this now, to tell you about this technological breakthrough!

How It Works

Scientific studies have been done after this high kilohertz sound was made and those studies have shown that this sound is just a base sound that is actually in a series of sounds like it that can be made as high pitched so that no one can hear them, but they are still playing. Although the base study done by the Swedish government showed that this 17 kilohertz ear-splitting ring can only be heard by people under 30, it turns out that results have shown that people in their teens have some trouble hearing it and people over 50 can even hear it. So to be safe, if you are planning to use it against people, check to see if they can hear it first.

Hidden Games

So maybe you think that you're one of those people that does work all the time, but seriously, don't you want to have a little time off for games? I'm sure that many of us are aware of sites like miniclip and other things like that, but did you know that if you have a Mac, the developers actually already put games on your computer? Yeah I bet you didn't, but if you did, you should read this anyway cause there's probably some stuff here that you don't know about.

1) The application that you will need to use to find these games is called terminal. You can find it in your utilities folder, which is in your applications folder or if you know how to use spotlight, just spotlight it. Once you have found it, open it. It looks pretty innocent as a little black screen with a few words on it, but trust me, it isn't innocent at all.

2) First type emacs and then press enter.
If you did that correctly, which I hope you did because I don't even know how you could mess it up, a list of things will pop up.

3) Then, press the escape key (the one that says esc at the top left of your keyboard).
The writing should all erase once you press escape.

4) Now type x.

5) Now type the name of any old classic game that you want to play (example: tetris). I have only found three, but I have heard that there are many more. The games that I know of are pong, snake, and tetris.

6) Once you typed in the name of the game that you want to play, press enter.

Now you have a fully function, but somewhat deformed game (I think they are stretched weird and you will see what I mean when play them,) but anyway, they are cool. So check them out.

Fake Virus! I'm sure that some of you have already heard of it going around and just so you all know - it does not transfer onto someone else's computer when you send them an email or anything.

It is a completely safe and local fake virus that you can remove whenever you want to. If you would like to download the fake virus and the installation instructions for mac, you can download it here. I'm not expecting anything big, but I do have my fingers crossed. So welcome to the CamelMac blog!

I do have a lot of experience with computers from various times of me getting in trouble or misusing them, but over my years of failures and successes either positive or negative, I have learned quite a bit about how to use them. I am mainly a mac user and my parents did bring me up with Macs as my primary computer to use. For anyone that doesn't already know, Macs have the sleekest operating system around and they are great for almost any purpose; with the new feature that they have, the fact that they can run windows vista, they are surely the most unstoppable force of computers out there.

While there are many positive for using macs, they are a bit overpriced and from my experience, I can tell you that they aren't as easy to use for programming and most of the games that are developed are developed for the windows operating system first. So you might now ask why the macs can't just run windows and be just as good. The answer to that question is that there are still many glitches to the macs running windows so if you are a programmer, get a pc, but if you can afford it, get a mac; its more than worth it.

Alright so after this long intro to my blog, I welcome you to the CamelMac Blog and while I have put many things about computers on this blog, if there is anything that you can not find and that you would like me to add, please feel free to email me at acamela@gmail.com.
